Samuel Johnson

These pieces explore color by minimizing it and may suggest purity and clarity while
maintaining surface textures that seem idiosyncratic and imperfect.  They are
mysterious and enigmatic in ways that are familiar:  opposing elements that strive for a
rational ideal while remaining essentially flawed and vulnerable. I like his surface quality to his piece and I can relate to this in my own work.

Peter Christian Johnson

He is interested in how the artifacts we leave behind speak to our history and
cultural identity. It catalogues the act of making, of constructing, of
inventing, and reinventing. These sculptures are not recreations of objects from our culture,
but abstractions of the things we find ourselves surrounded. I think Robert would find this artist interesting his forms are quite similar.

Darien Johnson

His work represents the current entanglement of human cognition and digital processing

The resulting work conveys an entanglement of artistic intuition and digital processing, and
comments on the integration of digital media and human cognition

My work

I believe memory attaches itself to objects and colour.
References to landscape and nature are evident in many of my forms and working processes. The forms are abstract yet resemble the biological features of their source. Earth’s structure, forms and textures inform my work.
I am drawn to organic formations and extreme landscapes that remind me of my own childhood, living in the countryside. I am interested in exploring these ideas through my work by, abstracted or fragmented forms that are reflective of the land, processes, and materials from which they are derived.
My aim is to create work that emanates a natural true sense of beauty and vitality. The interaction of touch, material and colour in my work helps to evoke memories in the viewer and myself.

'I make objects for the body in order to transform the world and how we
perceive the world'

'Through these objects I am exploring methods of
communication and the navigation of the spaces, both physical and mental, that
we inhabit.'

'By disrupting or enhancing the senses, my props make possible an exaggerated
self-awareness, a break in the normalcy of daily experience.'

I feel this artist might suit Saoirse in how she creates her flowers. Also Zarah might also find this artist interesting with her use of textiles.

Roxanna Jackson

'Themes of extinction, death and transformation'

'The human (or animal) figure is used as a point of departure, so that I may distort, abstract or scrutinize it'

I feel this artist would suit Roisin in how she uses the human body and distorts or adds to it. she explores the dark side to human nature.

I think Emma K. would find this artist interesting in how she builds and creates her pieces.
